Bamiyan Kabob in Richmond Hill serves up Afghan cuisine in a bright, spacious setting that invites both casual diners and groups looking for a relaxed meal. Located on York Boulevard, this spot is well-suited for anyone curious about authentic Afghan flavors without venturing far.

The dining area is notably roomy with a tidy, straightforward décor that balances clean lines and warm lighting. This openness—combined with a sizable outdoor patio—makes it comfortable even on busy days, whether you're settling in for a quiet dinner or a weekend lunch. The patio, tucked away from the street, offers a calm, laid-back vibe that feels like a moment of pause amid a busy neighborhood.

People who come here appreciate a friendly, attentive service that moves quickly without feeling rushed. The workflow leans toward a casual style where you pick up your food yourself after ordering, so it works well for visitors who don’t want to spend too much time waiting for their meal. Staff often take time to explain dishes, which is a plus for those newer to Afghan cuisine.

The kitchen focuses on hearty, satisfying plates where the grilled meats, especially chicken kabobs, meet well-balanced seasoning without dryness—a common challenge with this style of cooking. Rice and fresh salads accompany the meals in generous portions that even hearty eaters find filling without overwhelming. The fresh-baked bread standing out as a staple complements the meal, offering extra depth to the typical kabob dinner.

This location seems to have built a loyal local following over many years, partly thanks to the consistency in food quality and cleanliness. It’s especially suited for folks who enjoy a straightforward, no-fuss dining experience that delivers reliable tastes and a welcoming atmosphere. Lunch and early evening visits are ideal, avoiding peak rush times when the line might spill outside.

While the interior can sometimes feel a bit chilly, particularly in colder seasons, the overall vibe remains inviting and suitable for a laid-back catch-up or a quiet meal by yourself. The long-running presence of Bamiyan Kabob at this spot means it has settled into the local landscape as a dependable option for Afghan fare in Richmond Hill.

I’m usually unable to finish my entire meal but I ATE. Literally everything on my plate. The chicken was so flavourful and was not dry at all. The rice was seasoned so nicely. And the salad was very fresh. I still cannot believe that I ate that much food but it was so good. I couldn’t stop eating I will definitely be coming back.

This is one of the nicer dine-in locations. It’s really big inside so it feels roomy and open. The decor is nice and lighting is medium to bright. The service was exceptional and fast. Food came out perfect and tasted consistent with the other locations. I live far but I’m glad I came to this location. Thanks for the good food and clean atmosphere.

Really great spot for Afghan food. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend trying the Tikka and Sultani kabob dinners. The freshly baked bread is also fantastic!

My wife and I ordered the half chicken dinner and it was delictable. My only complaint is that the Breast portion is a little dry and the bread wasn't that fresh. Usually this is not the case. I have been coming to this location for over 9 years. This location has a really nice outdoor patio that is calming and quiet. I love the vibe of this place. The inside of the place is decorated nicely and is filled with art. It is absolutely huge.

Very popular place went here for the 1st time for lunch, and there were lots of people lined up for their delicious food. They're friendly and patient. They took their time to explain what some of their food was like and tasted. The food was made promptly, but you had to go up and get it yourself. Took a star away cause it was pretty cold in the dining area. The washroom was cold as well and had stalls missing toilet paper. The tables weren't cleaned properly, and some were even sticky Food was great once again would recommend to others

It was my first time trying Afghan food and I must admit that I wasn't expecting much, but it was a great surprise. The service was efficient. It didn't take long. I started salivating just from the aroma of the place. The food was perfect and in considerable quantity. Great seasoning, with lots of flavor. The bread that came as a side dish was warm and also very good. I will definitely be back and I will bring my family to try it too.

Decently priced food and it is delicious as well. Staff were nice and ordering was easy. They have an insanely large dining area, but it is not high-end and more cafeteria style. You order at the counter and then bring your food to whatever table you would like. Great for a quick and delicious bite, but I wouldn't recommend it for a date. They do have a large patio as well, which was closed because of the weather.
